Dementia Education - promoting a better understanding of dementia

Elder Family Matters is pleased to offer opportunities to explore and learn how we can understand dementia and the experience of people living with dementia.

Dementia Alzheimers photo historyLearn about dementia in a supportive environment with others who have a desire to improve the quality of life for people living with dementia.

The audience for these workshops may include:
  • paid carers seeking to improve their knowledge and skill,
  • health professionals and volunteers who have contact with people living with dementia,
  • children of people with memory loss or dementia looking for strategies to help their Mum or Dad,
  • family carers seeking information to help them in their role.
Content 
Workshop one: Understanding dementia and how it affects a person’s life.
Workshop two: Promoting positive interactions with a person living with dementia.
Workshop three: Exploring and selecting resources in the local area to support people living with dementia.

Workshop Time 
Either: 9.30am - 12pm or 1pm - 3.30pm

Workshop Fee  
All three workshops (the series) = $160.00 (incl gst)
Individual workshops = $80 (incl gst)

Recognition
Attendees who complete all three workshops will receive the Elder Family Matters Dementia Care Certificate.
Workshop content also supports NZQA unit standard 26974 (Level 3 - Dementia care).
