My fondest memory is of my very old (100+ years) Client's face lighting up on my arrival - she never could remember my name but she would clasp my hand and say "I'm so glad you're here"... and I knew then that I made a difference in her life.
Elaine - Carer

What we do

Our Clients often tell us they feel much younger than their years...
The experiences that have defined them, still feel as though they happened yesterday. EFM works hard to match just the right Carer with a Client, someone who will link them into those activities, relationships and interests that have them feeling more energised and connected with their world.

compatibility smlSpecifically, EFM provides:
•    assistance with the tasks of daily living: shopping, housework, personal cares, laundry, meals, transport, social activities;
•    one-on-one support / companionship / outings for people in residential care;
•    respite care to enable the main carer for a loved one to have a break;
•    short-term support for people recuperating after a stay in hospital;
•    help for people with stroke, or progressive illness at any stage;
•    one-off services e.g. accompanying and/or transporting a person to an appointment.

We are well known for our specialist skills in supporting people living with dementia to stay in their own home and to support their family so they remain connected.

We have learnt over the years that the following three categories provide a continuum of care reflecting increasingly complex care arrangements as needs change.

End-stage Care
As older people's needs do change we stay with them. As their mobility or cognitive functioning lessens we adapt the care programme accordingly.

Our Clients often come to us while they are still very independent. For example:
  • They are no longer driving themselves and want companionship to take them places or they just want to go out jaunting with someone.
  • They may want a hand around the house or garden.

By becoming EFM Clients early they develop the relationships for the day when they may need more complex care arrangements to stay at home.
